Updating Firmware 1.1 to 2.1 on MacPro 2006

  1. Obtain the Firmware Update Tool. HERE
  2. Baja la actualización de Firmware HERE
  3. Mount the DMG.
  4. Use the update tool to create the "RAM DISK" and avoid error 5530.
  5. Inside the update tool's content, in the internal folder /Contents/Resources, locate the following scripts and copy them to the RAM DISK:
  • ExtractAndPatchEFIFiles.sh
  • UpgradeEFI2006-2007.sh
  • DowngradeEFI2007-2006.sh
  • MacProEFIUpdater2006.patch
  • MacProEFIUpdater2007.patch
  1. Edit the ExtractAndPatchEFIFiles.sh file using your preferred text editor.
  2. Delete the following lines:
  • hdiutil attach -nobrowse MacProEFI2006and2007.dmg
  • rm -R Expanded
  • rm -R System
  • rm Payload
  1. Save the script.
  2. Run it using: ./ExtractAndPatchEFIFiles.sh
  3. Run the update script with: sudo ./UpgradeEFI2006-2007.sh
  4. If it doesn't give you any issues, simply complete the update.
  5. Turn off the MacPro.
  6. Press the power button and hold it down until it starts blinking.
  7. Wait for the update to finish.
  8. Check the firmware version.
  9. Restart the computer to properly detect the CPUs.
