Install Big Sur on a 2011 Mac using Open Core

Required prerequisites:
16GB USB drive for creating the installer.

STEP 1: Create the Big Sur installer
- Abre la terminal y escribe el siguiente comando: sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ BigSurInstaller.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/USB Asegúrate de tener el instalador de Big Sur en la carpeta de Aplicaciones y reemplaza “USB” con el nombre exacto de tu unidad USB. Puedes obtener este nombre desde la utilidad de discos de tu Mac.
STEP 2: Configure Open Core
- Copy the Open Core file to the Applications folder and run it.
- Select the option to install Open Core on an external USB and choose your Big Sur installer.
- Allow the installation to complete and restart your Mac. Now the installer is ready.
STEP 3: Start the Big Sur installation
- Conecta el USB de instalación y arranca tu Mac presionando la tecla “Opción” para acceder al menú de arranque.
- Selecciona “Efi Boot” y luego elige el instalador de Big Sur.
- Follow the usual Big Sur installation process.
STEP 4: Patching with Open Core
- After the installation is complete, it's necessary to patch the hard drive where Big Sur was installed using Open Core.
- Restart your computer.
- Optionally, you can patch the root again from Open Core and restart.
STEP 5: Boot your Mac into Big Sur
- Inicia tu Mac sin el USB conectado y presiona la tecla “Opción” para acceder a Efi Boot.
- Selecciona “Bigsur” y presiona Enter.
- Done! Now you can enjoy macOS Big Sur on your 2011 Mac.
Additional Tip:
If you want your Mac to automatically start in Big Sur, follow these steps:
- Inicia tu Mac presionando la tecla “Opción”.
- En el menú donde se muestra Efi Boot, presiona la tecla “Control” y verás que su ícono cambia.
- Press Enter and repeat the same process to select Big Sur.
